چکیده

In previous reports large-scale EDTA-based soil washing using ReSoil® technology was demonstrated. the current study, we established a vegetable garden with nine raised beds (4 × 1 0.5 m), three original (contaminated) soil, remediated and vitalized by addition of vermicompost, earthworms, rhizosphere inoculum. The managed in 6 rotations between July 2018 November 2019. Buckwheat sown first as green manure followed spinach, lamb's lettuce, chicory, garlic, onion, leek, carrot, kohlrabi spinach again. growth on reduced half. Throughout gardening process there were no remarkable differences bulk density, hydraulic conductivity, available water capacity, aggregate stability soil. Biomass yield plant performance, measured NDVI, also remained similar regardless treatment. Remediation Pb concentration edible parts vegetables from 76 (garlic) to 95% (kohlrabi), Zn 14 (lettuce) 76% (first cutting chicory), Cd 33% (carrot) 91% (leek second chicory). transfer metals root shoot occurred order: < Cd. bioconcentration toxic generally lower soils. Application growing that exclude metals, especially Cd, has potential for safe food production Vitalization had little effect properties

Nutrient Leaching When Soil Is Part of Plant Growth Media

Soils can serve as sorbents for phosphorus (P), negating the need for artificial sorbents. The purpose of this study was to compare soils with different properties for their effect on nutrient levels in effluent. Four soils were mixed with sand and packed into columns 0.5 m long, with or without compost on the surface. Infiltration and effluent concentrations were measured before and after grow...

Effect of Slope Gradient and Soil Physical Properties on Soil Loss in Furrows of Rainfed Farms

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of slope gradient and soil physical properties (grain size distribution, bulk density, aggregate stability and permeability) on water erosion in the furrows of rainfed farms under fallow conditions. The furrows with 6 m length were installed in five rainfed farms with 6.1, 10.6, 14.8, 20.7 and 27.1% slope steepness at three replications. Resul...

Effects of soil compaction on the relationships between nematodes, grass production and soil physical properties

As farm machinery has become heavier, concern has grown about its direct effects on soil physical conditions and its indirect effects on crop yields and soil biota. To study the relationships between these parameters, non-grazed temporary grassland plots on a loamy sand soil were subjected to full-width load traffic with widely different loads (0, 4.5, 8.5 and 14.5 t) one to four times per year...

Soil conditions and plant growth'

Plants can respond to soil conditions in ways that can not readily be explained in terms of the ability of the roots to take up water and nutrients. Roots may sense difficult conditions in the soil and thence send inhibitory signals to the shoots which harden the plants against the consequences of a deteriorating or restrictive environment, especially if the plants' water supply is at risk. Gen...
